Jordan Love had a brilliant start to his NFL career. After sitting behind Aaron Rodgers for a few years, Love emerged as the team’s Day 1 starter after trading the superstar quarterback last offseason. Love showed and proved his worth, helping lead the team to a surprising NFL playoff appearance. They destroyed the Dallas Cowboys in a stunning upset before they fell to eventual NFC Champion San Francisco.
Whatever Love felt he wa worth before, he clearly thinks even higher of himself now. So do the people around him, and likely, so do his teammates. But as training camp begins, the young quarterback won’t be anywhere in sight. For good reason.
Love won’t attend training camp or practice until he gets a new contract. Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst confirmed why Love was absent from camp on Monday morning. Packers writer Matt Schneidman posted the news.
“Jordan Love will not practice until he has a new deal, Brian Gutekunst says. Love’s camp informed Packers of that decision Saturday,” Schneidman wrote.

Gutekunst says a deal could get done in the coming days, but you never know. Says big deals take time.

Time will tell to see how long this holdout lasts. But based on the tea leaves, don’t expect it to be a marathon.
