Longtime Cincinnati Bengals superstar offensive lineman Willie Anderson has not been voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame despite being eligible three times, and it sounds like he is placing blame on Hollywood for keeping him out of Canton.
During a recent appearance on Up & Adams, Willie Anderson blamed the Oscar-nominated movie The Blind Side for convincing people that the left tackle position was more important than the right side of the offensive line, where Anderson played throughout his career at right tackle.
“The media had a bias because they just didn’t understand the importance of the guys we blocked over there [on the right side] were some of the best rushers of all-time,’ Anderson said according to Deadline. “The whole Blind Side thing got taken out because of the movie and the right side guys got pushed away.”
Anderson was then asked directly if he felt that the movie had ruined his chances at getting inducted in the Hall of Fame, and he certainly didn’t hold back from giving his true opinion on the matter.
“Absolutely,” Anderson said.
Anderson had quite a storied NFL career as he was named a first-team All-Pro three times throughout his career and made the Pro Bowl four times.
