Over the past several seasons, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has emerged as a generational playmaker at the quarterback position given his size and running ability in addition to his strong arm. He makes some plays that few other quarterbacks in the league could make, but it sounds like the Bills want him to play within the offense a little more.
During a recent appearance on the Centered on Buffalo podcast with former Bills center Eric Wood, offensive coordinator Joe Brady praised Josh Allen for his ability to make plays that “nobody else in the world” could make, but he also had a pretty clear message to Allen that he doesn’t want him to have to do that on every play.
“Josh is a great quarterback, but just wanting to see his thirst to get better,” Brady said according to Pro Football Talk. “When you show him clips that ‘Hey, you might have made an incredible play right here but you didn’t have to make an incredible play. How can we make it easier for you? You can make plays that nobody else in the world can do, but we don’t need you to do it every snap.’”
We’ll have to see whether or not Allen can grow in this way this upcoming season.
