Baker Mayfield has only been with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for one season, signing with the team as a free agent before the start of the 2023 season, but it’s safe to say that he’s proven himself – both on the field and it in the locker room.
After a dominant first season with the team, Baker Mayfield earned a new contract this offseason to keep him with the team for the forseeable future. And it sounds like he’s valuable to the team in the locker room, as well.
During a recent interview with Jim Rome, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Calijah Kancey did not hold back his praise for Baker Mayfield as he spoke very highly of his leadership abilities.
“Baker is a guy who you want to run through a wall for,” Kancey said according to Pro Football Talk. “He’s a guy that’s going to leave it out on the line. He’s very competitive. He’s a great guy overall, helps out in the community. He’s willing to give his lives to anyone on the team or anyone in general.
“He’s just a baller. He’s a dawg.”
Clearly, Mayfield has been thoroughly embraced by the Buccaneers since signing with the team.
