Indiana Fever superstar rookie Caitlin Clark may be getting most of the headlines this WNBA season, but her longtime rival Angel Reese is dominating the league, as well, as she is in the midst of an absolutely historic rookie season in which she just set a new WNBA record.
During Sunday afternoon’s game against the Minnesota Lynx, Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese finished the contest with 10 points and 16 rebounds to give herself a double-double, and that double-double officially gave her the WNBA record for the most consecutive double-doubles in league history.
“PUT HER IN THE HISTORY BOOKS. Angel Reese becomes the first player in WNBA history to put up 10 consecutive double-doubles in a single szn. She passes Candace Parker (9 in 2015),” the WNBA said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Obviously, this is a pretty massive accomplishment for the rookie, and it understandably led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.
The league is in great hands. This woman is cold, too!! https://t.co/kVEKNR5Nvv

People can say whatever they want but Lisa Leslie, Sylvia Fowles, Candace Parker, Yolanda Griffith, Tina Charles, A’Ja Wilson, etc. all have played in this league and never did this. She’s a rookie. https://t.co/UiqPIpz6aS

I’d say passing a Candace Parker record and setting history kind of puts you as the front runner for ROY… we may be watching the rookie season of the greatest rebounder in W history when all is said and done https://t.co/w5QV6TrZFf

Clark has been performing well for the Indiana Fever, as well, nearly posting her first career triple-double in an 88-82 win over the Phoenix Mercury. So it looks like there might be a little bit of a competition for the league’s Rookie of the Year Award.
