Saquon Barkley spent his first six seasons in the NFL with the New York Giants where he faced off against the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles twice every season. Now, he’s switching sides of the division rivalry – something one Eagles player never saw coming.
During a recent interview, Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson got brutally honest about Saquon Barkley and his defection from New York to Philadelphia as he explained that he “never thought that he would be playing for us” throughout his time with the Giants.
“Once you see him, you’ll never forget, just [a] physically imposing guy,” Johnson said in an interview with NFL Network on Monday. “I think he walks around 230 [pounds].
“He’s ultra competitive. When you see what he can do at the running back position and we can flex him out at receiver, he can go. It’s unbelievable. I never thought that he would be playing for us, but here it is. I know that he’s excited. We’re definitely excited up front. I think he’s poised for a big, big year.”
Barkley signed with the Eagles as a free agent this offseason after the Giants decided to part ways with the star running back. We’ll have to see whether or not Barkley can make New York regret that decision.
