Deion Sanders is entering just his second season coaching college football at a Power Five level after a 4-8 season during his first year with the team. But he seems to think that he’s a better coach than other college coaches simply because of his experience in the NFL.
During a recent interview with college football analyst Joel Klatt, Deion Sanders claimed that he has “a better rhythm, a better feel” than other college football coaches because he has spent a lot of time playing at the NFL level.
“And let me tell you something about pros, and I have nothing against collegiate coaches because there’s some great ones out there, I just have a better rhythm, a better feel,” Sanders said according to On3. “Because that’s my thought process. And that’s the process that I want these young men to understand where they’re headed.
“So if they’re taught by a pro, understanding how to be a pro makes it much more realistic. And I can comprehend the style and the way they teach. So you talk about over 127 years in this building of NFL coaching. Experience is unbelievable man. And I absolutely love it.”
That’s quite a bold statement from a coach who lost eight of nine games in his conference and didn’t have a single player selected in the NFL Draft. But he’ll have a chance to validate that claim this coming year as he continues to build his team and develop players for the NFL.
