The Washington Commanders selected reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels with the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft obviously in hopes that he could be the team’s next starting quarterback. And it seems like he has already impressed one of the team’s star players.
During a recent interview with Scott Van Pelt on ESPN’s SportsCenter, Washington Commanders star wide receiver Terry McLaurin did not hold back in praising Jayden Daniels as he indicated that he is already looking like a more polished veteran in many areas.
“It seemed like he knew the entire offense when he got there,” McLaurin said according to Pro Football Talk. “He’s in there calling the huddles during the walk-throughs. He’s in there calling the plays and he’s extremely confident. And it’s a testament to his preparation and the studying he did on his own. But also, I just think the kid loves ball and he has a good feel for the game. So, I think he really came in with the right mindset and energy and guys are already gravitating toward him.”
While Daniels is competing with veteran quarterback Marcus Mariota for the starting spot this offseason, all signs seem to suggest that Daniels will win the job.
