The Iowa Hawkeyes are an interesting bunch in 2024. They’ll have a revamped offense after head coach Kirk Ferentz made staff changes in the offseason. Iowa’s offensive woes have plagued the program for many years, and it’s almost become a bit of a running gag. That said, optimism is high right now on campus. Quarterback Cade McNamara, formerly of Michigan, is impressing people at camp.
John Steppe wrote in The Gazette that McNamara is progressing well following a torn ACL that he suffered last October. He’s apparently making all the right moves and is impressing all the right people.
Hawkeyes receiver Kaleb Brown was quoted by the publication as saying, “It’s good to see him moving around and more active than he had been before.”
Brown later spoke about building chemistry with McNamara, something the two haven’t been able to really do yet. But it sounds like things have been going very well.
Iowa, much like many in the Big Ten, will deal with a new crowd coming through to the conference. Oregon, Washington, UCLA, and USC will all join the Big Ten starting this Fall. The conference’s expansion will lead to a radical shift for the game. It’s only yet to be seen just how big of an effect it will have.
But it does sound like the Hawkeyes will come into 2024 with McNamara ready to go. He’s on a great flight path right now and it seems like he won’t find many more hardships if he stays on the straight and narrow.
