The New York Giants have been trying to be careful with starting quarterback Daniel Jones as he recovers from a season-ending ACL injury last season. But that doesn’t mean that Jones has always been happy with the way that the team has handled his injury recovery this offseason. And that included the team’s minicamp this week.
The Giants decided to hold Daniel Jones out of full team drills during the team’s minicamp this week, and the quarterback made it clear that was not exactly happy about the decision from head coach Brian Daboll.
“No, I wasn’t pumped up, but I’m not the coach, I don’t make those calls,” Jones said according to Pro Football Talk. “I understand Dabs wanted to get a lot of team work, and that’s what they did. Yeah, it wasn’t my favorite thing, but that’s not my job.’’
Jones is returning as the team’s starting quarterback this offseason after signing a four-year contract extension before the 2023 NFL season. The Giants seemed to be interested in possibly bringing in a new quarterback this offseason through the draft but ultimately have decided to roll with Jones as their starter once again this season.
We’ll have to see how Jones continues to recover and how he performs this season.
