The Milwaukee Brewers moved to place a star prospect on the injured list. Pitcher Robert Gasser, who recently joined the big league club, will head to the IL with an elbow injury.
What’s more, is that the team scheduled a visit for Gasser to meet with a famed doctor. Gasser will meet Dr. Neal ElAttrache, a famed sports doctor who’s performed for many of the most notable athletes in sports.
The Brewers announced that they placed Gasser on the IL along with other corresponding moves on Wednesday afternoon.

Then, later, news emerged that Gasser would seek a second opinion with a visit to ElAttrache.

DL Hall will be headed out later today to see ElAttrache, as well.

Gasser began the year in Triple-A but later joined the Major League club. In his short time in the bigs, Gasser went 2-0 in 28.0 innings with a 2.57 ERA. He made five starts and had been going through the motions, but the elbow injury derailed any chance of him getting his feet set in Milwaukee long-term this season. It’s a dispiriting conclusion to a lot of early promise.
Ultimately, we’ll see what happens. But the ongoing elbow injury epidemic in baseball has seemingly claimed another. It’s another in a disturbingly torrid run of elbow injuries in the game. So far, it only seems to be accelerating, which is both unfortunate and foreboding.
