Throughout the rivalry between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, superstar Xander Schauffele has been loyal to the Tour and has performed quite well, even winning the PGA Championship recently. But that does not mean he is perfectly happy with the Tour’s leadership.
During a recent interview with The Times, Xander Schauffele made it very clear that he has not been happy with the leadership of PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan throughout the rivalry with LIV Golf.
“What I can say is that throughout all of this turmoil, what’s probably bothered me the most — now more than ever — is that we need someone to lead us, we need a leader,” Schauffele told The Times.
“I’ve criticised Jay in the past, but the fact is not once has our commander-in-chief stood up for all of us players and said, ‘This is happening, this is where we’re going,’ and protected us, basically. He didn’t take a stand when anyone left, he didn’t come out to the public and face the music, none of that.
“Obviously, there were reasons, but historically in tough situations you need a strong leader who can make the big waves smaller and make us feel better about what we’re doing. Right now, we don’t have that.”
Needless to say, these comments led to a lot of reactions on social media.
Seems to be a lot of complaining about Monahan’s leadership, but nothing comes of it. As long as he has the backing of certain players he’ll remain.

Xander is spot on. Any pro who didn’t take LIV money should be livid at the lack of leadership by Jay Monahan. He’s simply playing things so he’s in position to be in a position of power if there’s a PGAT agreement with PIF. https://t.co/pDRlXUBEFd

It seems more and more likely that Jay Monahan being out is a sticking point for Tour members and the players on the Policy Board.
It would explain why Jimmy Dunne, who is close to Monahan, resigned in recent weeks, and why there has been such little traction in negotiations. https://t.co/SORybko4Zj

Xander tells it like it is. Monahan leadership is lacking. https://t.co/YUh206RMlR

Well said Xander. Monahan has been weak. So weak he had to take a leave of absence for stress reasons. He should be dumped. https://t.co/5EuM9L0Bfw

Clearly, Schauffele is not happy with Monahan.
