The Chicago Sky suffered an 88-75 loss against the New York Liberty on Tuesday night, but perhaps the biggest storyline of the game came when high-profile Chicago Sky Angel Reese was ejected from the game after arguing with referees late in the contest.
With 2:31 remaining in the game, Angel Reese was given a technical foul after an interaction with a referee, and then quickly ejected from the game after a second technical foul.
Maj Forsberg, the lead official, told reporters after the game Reese received technical fouls for “disrespectfully addressing” the official and then for “waving her hand in dismissal,” according to ESPN.
Chicago Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon was confused by the situation as she claimed she was never given an explanation as to why Reese was ejected.
“I tried to get an explanation. I did not,” Weatherspoon told reporters according to ESPN. “I don’t know to this moment what has happened.”
Teammate Marina Mabrey, however, seems to think that Reese should have had more composure.
“She got two techs, she said something to the ref,” Mabrey said. “Whatever he felt like was the correct call is what he made. It’s more about composure for us in our young years in the WNBA. You’ve got to get to know refs and how they respond to things.”
