The Denver Broncos selected former Oregon Ducks star quarterback Bo Nix with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft last month in hopes that he can be their quarterback of the future in replacement of Russell Wilson, who the team cut this offseason. And it sounds like he’s progressing nicely.
During a press conference on Thursday, Sean Payton provided a little bit of an update on how Bo Nix is progressing, saying that the young quarterback is “throwing the ball extremely well” as he competes for the starting quarterback role.
“It’s hard for me to catch you up like on a Netflix series,” Payton said according to Pro Football Talk. “You guys watched one [episode], and then you missed three, and then you watched one and I’m trying to catch you up. All three of [the quarterbacks] are doing well. Specifically to Bo, he’s doing really well. He’s picking it up. There’s a lot that’s going on. He’s throwing the ball extremely well.”
The Broncos are allowing Nix, Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson all to compete for the starting role, splitting first-team reps among them until someone emerges. We’ll have to see whether or not Nix earns the job this offseason, but it sounds like he’s already impressing Payton.
