This weekend, Rochester Institute of Technology sophomore transgender sprinter Sadie Schreiner competed in the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. While she didn’t come away with a national championship, she did win some hardware.
While Sadie Schreiner was not able to win or medal in the 400m – her favorite and typically her best event – she was able to finish in third in the 200m, earning the bronze medal.
Schreiner finished with a time of 24.12 seconds in the event, which is a personal best for her. She was just narrowly behind champion Lauren Jarrett of Wisconsin-LaCrosse who finished with a winning time of 23.82 seconds.
She may not have won the championship, but as Outkick points out, she still has a lot to be proud of.
“On the podium, Schreiner was all smiles and with good reason. In her first collegiate season she reached her first NCAA championship meet and is a two-time All-American as a sophomore. She joins Telfer and University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas as trans women who are multi-time NCAA All-Americans,” Outsports reported.
It was certainly a strong showing for Schreiner and she will undoubtedly be back to compete next season.
