PGA Tour superstar Scottie Scheffler had an unfortunate run-in with law-enforcement officers earlier this month when he was arrested outside of Valhalla Golf Club while on his way to compete in the second round of the PGA Championship. But even despite that, it sounds like he is still very supportive of police officers.
On Wednesday, Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell said prosecutors would not pursue charges against Scottie Scheffler. After that decision was made, Scheffler took to social media to make it clear that he held “no ill will” toward the police officer who arrested him and that he supports police officers.
“I hold no ill will toward Officer [Bryan] Gillis. I wish to put this incident behind me and move on, and I hope he will do the same,” Scheffler wrote in an Instagram story Wednesday, referencing the Louisville police officer who arrested him outside Valhalla Golf Club. “Police officers have a difficult job and I hold them in high regard. This was a severe miscommunication in a chaotic situation.”
Scheffler would have had every reason to be upset and resentful toward the police based on how everything played out, but it sounds like he will offer his continued support to law enforcement officers.
