The Green Bay Packers lost one of their key players to an injury this week as tight end Tucker Kraft suffered a torn pectoral muscle during a workout. And based on his description of the injury, it sounds like it was pretty gruesome.
During a recent interview with SI, Tucker Kraft opened up about the injury, revealing that he wasn’t doing anything unusual during his weightlifting session when all of a sudden the muscle “just popped right off the bone.”
“Just a regular lift,” Kraft said according to SI.com. “It was my last rep of the day on bench. Nothing crazy, not heavy weight. We were speed-benching and it just popped right off the bone.”
Obviously that description paints a pretty gruesome image, and it’s an undeniably frustrating setback for a player who was emerging as a star for the team after a strong rookie season.
“I’m just ready to take off in this league and establish myself as a football player, really. That’s where my frustration lies,” Kraft said.
The good news for Kraft is that despite the gruesome nature of the injury, it sounds like he still plans to be ready to play by the start of the season.
