Last year, former Louisville Cardinals quarterback Malik Cunningham joined the Baltimore Ravens presumably to become a backup for fellow former Lousiville Cardinals star Lamar Jackson. But it sounds like Cunningham will now be catching passes from Jackson instead of serving as one of his backups.
According to a report from Ryan Mink of the Baltimore Ravens team website, Mali Cunningham has now officially switched positions from quarterback to wide receiver – and is already making some impressive plays at his new position.
“Malik Cunningham is now officially listed as a WR (not QB) on the Ravens’ roster, btw. He made that look like the right call today with several grabs,” Mink said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Cunningham went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft but was ultimately signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent shortly after the draft.
Even despite the Patriots’ struggles at the quarterback position throughout the 2023 season, Cunningham never got a chance to play in a game with New England and was ultimately claimed off of the team’s practice squad by the Baltimore Ravens.
Though he showed promise as a quarterback, particularly in the preseason, it sounds like he is now dedicating his efforts to becoming a full-time wide receiver.
