During his controversial commencement address earlier this month, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker had some strong words for United States President Joe Biden as he criticized him for not holding true to traditional Catholic principles on issues like abortion and LGBTQ rights. But despite this, it sounds like Butker is still planning to visit the White House to celebrate the team’s Super Bowl championship with the rest of his team.
Butker’s comments about Joe Biden went viral earlier this month as he called the president “delusional” for supporting abortion rights while also maintaining his Catholic faith.
“Our own nation is led by a man who publicly and proudly proclaims his Catholic faith,” Butker said in his speech earlier this month. “But at the same time is delusional enough to make the sign of the cross during a pro-abortion rally. He has been so vocal in his support for the murder of innocent babies that I’m sure to many people it appears that you can be both Catholic and pro-choice. He is not alone. From the fan behind the COVID lockdown, to the people pushing gender ideologies onto the youth of America. They all have a glaring thing in common. They are all Catholic.”
But even despite this criticism, it sounds like he is indeed planning to attend the team’s celebration at the White House. Earlier this month, the White House confirmed that Butker would be invited along with everybody else on the team, and head coach Andy Reid indicated that he believes Butker is planning to attend.
“I’m sure he will, yeah,” Reid responded when asked if Butker would go to the White House to visit Biden along with the rest of the team.
It’s worth noting that Butker also attended the team’s celebration at the White House last year in which he gave a subtle abortion protest with his attire.
