Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker delivered quite a controversial commencement address at Benedictine College in Kansas last week in which he said that women should focus on being wives and mothers instead of pursuing careers, criticized United States President Joe Biden, and spoke out against LGBTQ Pride Month. But it sounds like he’ll still be invited to the White House.
The Kansas City Chiefs have been given an invitation to celebrate their recent Super Bowl LVIII victory at the White House with United States President Joe Biden. And White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that Biden is still inviting Harrison Butker.
“So can you confirm — you said everyone on the team is obviously invited. Is the Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker welcomed at this White House?” a CNN reporter asked Jean-Pierre.
“What I can say is we invite the entire team and we do that always. I don’t have anything beyond that,” Jean-Pierre replied.
Obviously, the decision to allow Butker to attend the celebration at the White House despite his recent comments led to a lot of reactions on social media.
I don’t like what he said or the forum he used. I don’t agree with most of it but that’s my opinion. Just like what he said is his. Disinviting him would be petty.
