The Los Angeles Lakers have naturally been linked to draft prospect Bronny James throughout the lead-up to the 2024 NBA Draft. But now, they have seemingly confirmed all the speculation of their interest in potentially drafting him next month.
Bronny James, the son of current Lakers star LeBron James, didn’t have the success in his collegiate career that you would like to see out of a draft prospect. He averaged just 4.8 points per game in his lone collegiate season at USC.
Despite this, the Lakers have an interest in bringing in Bronny, which makes sense considering LeBron James has expressed his desire to play with his son countless times over the years.
According to Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times, the Lakers recently conducted an interview with Bronny during the 2024 NBA Draft Scouting Combine this week.
One thing that is going in Bronny’s favor is that he made the most of a somewhat surprising opportunity he received by getting an invite to the NBA Draft Scouting Combine this week.
Bronny has risen up draft boards in the eyes of most draft experts as a result of his performance at the combine. ESPN NBA Draft analyst Jonathan Givony even raised Bronny all the way up to being his No. 54 ranked prospect, which is up significantly from where he previously had him.
It is looking more and more likely that LeBron James will ultimately get his wish and be able to play with his son in Los Angeles.
