The Kansas City Chiefs will play back-to-back games against some of the top teams in the league to start the NFL season, taking on the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 and the Cincinnati Bengals the following week. And it sounds like that’s just the way Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce likes it.
During the latest episode of his New Heights podcast with his brother Jason, Travis Kelce admitted that he likes to play games against top teams early in the season rather than in the middle of the season and later in the season.
“I do like playing the potential, like, top teams in the league early,” Kelce said on the podcast according to Pro Football Talk. “I’d rather play them early or like midseason. I don’t like playing at the end of season outside of the division. I just feel like it’s too close to the playoffs and if I have a chance to play them in the playoffs, I want to keep that game fresh.”
Obviously, the Chiefs and both the Ravens and the Bengals are expected to be some of the top contenders in the AFC, so the early-season matchups could be a preview of a future playoff matchup.
