Women’s basketball superstar Caitlin Clark made her WNBA debut with the Indiana Fever on Tuesday night after she was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA Draft last month. But it’s safe to say that her debut did not go as hoped for her or her team.
The Indiana Fever lost to the Connecticut Sun by a lopsided score of 92-71 and Caitlin Clark had a pretty brutal performance by her standards as she finished the game with 10 turnovers. And even though she finished with a team-high 20 points – the most points for any rookie in their debut game in WNBA history – she also wasn’t able to score until midway through the second quarter.
Understandably, Clark was frustrated and disappointed in the outcome following the game on Tuesday night but she vows to improve.
“I’m disappointed, and nobody likes to lose, but I don’t think you can beat yourself up too much about one game,” Clark said. “I don’t think that’s going to help this team.
“Just learn from it and move on.”
Clark certainly showed promise in the game as she did lead the team in points, but she understands that she needs to cut down on the turnovers if the Fever is going to be successful.
