Transgender runner Aayden Gallagher dominated at the Portland Interscholastic League Championship semifinals this week, winning one event and finishing in second in another to earn a spot in the finals. But not everyone was celebrating her success.
Gallagher finished in first in the girls 400-meter preliminary event and second in the girls 200-meter preliminary event to qualify for the finals. Gallagher, a transgender girl, was allowed to participate in the girls events by the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) policy for transgender athletes.
“The OSAA endeavors to allow students to participate for the athletic or activity program of their consistently asserted gender identity while providing a fair and safe environment for all students,” the policy states according to Fox News.
“As with Rule 8.2 regarding Duration of Eligibility / Graduation, rules such as this one promote harmony and fair competition among member schools by maintaining equality of eligibility and increase the number of students who will have an opportunity to participate in interscholastic activities.”
But even though she was well within the rules, not everyone was happy about the fact that she was allowed to participate in the event.
Any woman who supports this crap is a traitor to their sex. It’s shameful that the integrity of women’s sport is being destroyed like this. https://t.co/gid92IVXRf

He’s not even putting in a max effort. Disgusting.
On the plus side, this is a clear illustration of male advantage. All females finish close together. He is way ahead. Everyone who allows males in the Female category should hang their heads in shame. Cowards! https://t.co/SjwoOXPHy2

Aaaaaand here we go again.
And DO NOT come on here and say the girls should just refuse to compete. The ADULTS are the problem, and we all know it. Stop telling kids that one boy’s “feelings” matter more than every other girl they compete against. https://t.co/iXhJa9Do7Y

If they can make you cheer for this, they can make you cheer for anything. A government which would do this to women and girls, would do anything it can get away with. If you say you don't see the problem here then you are in a cult. https://t.co/ZCAg3H3xvt

Did you know that the fastest 50 US men's high school sprinters last year (2023) all ran the 100m faster than any woman on Earth ever has?
As this madness progresses I'm becoming more and more convinced that the only way out of this may be for women's sports to be totally… https://t.co/V0BtNTSp93

A male should not be allowed to compete in a female only competition. And vice versa. Period. https://t.co/h3t4OE2qQv

It’s clear that her dominance in the sports has led to a lot of criticism.
