The biggest story of the 2023-24 college football season was the Michigan Wolverines sign-stealing scandal as the team faced an NCAA investigation into allegations of an illegal sign-stealing scheme. But despite that scandal, it doesn’t sound like Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe is discounting Michigan’s accomplishments.
Jalen Milroe and the Alabama Crimson Tide fell to the eventual national champion Michigan Wolverines in the Rose Bowl College Football Playoff semifinal. And during a recent appearance on the Bussin With the Boys podcast, Milroe made it clear that he does not think Michigan’s accomplishments should be questioned due to the sign-stealing scandal.
“Do you think Michigan cheated?” host Taylor Lewan – a Michigan alum – asked Milroe.
“It don’t matter, they won,” Milroe said repeatedly according to On3. “They won. It don’t matter, they won.”
Obviously, Michigan didn’t just win that game, the team went on to beat the Washington Huskies in the national title game and win the College Football Playoff national title.
The NCAA continues to investigate the program for allegations of an illegal sign-stealing scheme and has already hit the program and some coaches with penalties for recruiting violations. But Michigan did indeed pull off the undefeated season and win a national title.
