The past two years, the Colorado Buffaloes have seen a lot of action in the transfer portal with many players leaving and getting replaced by others in the portal. Given the fluctuating state of the roster, it doesn’t seem to lend itself to players developing chemistry as a team. But quarterback Shedeur Sanders doesn’t sound too worried about it.
From the outside looking in, all of the transfers feels like they would set up a pretty brutal situation in the locker room, but Shedeur Sanders insists that’s not how it is.
“The guys that’s really leaving, they made that decision on their own. I don’t feel like that messes up the chemistry because of course we’re bummed about it, but whatever 11 players are out there, we’re going to make the most of it,” Sanders said according to On3. “So if they gotta do what’s best for them, that’s best for them.”
“And the guys that’s coming in, they already know. I tell them straight up what the mentality is,” Sanders said. “It’s no jealousy, it’s no anything in the locker room because that’ll separate it. And the moment it’s that then I have a problem, and then everybody else has the problem, and the leaders of the team have the problem with that player. And then it just infects the whole team, so we try to get all those guys out of here and be able to have a positive mindset. Being able to just work like a pro.”
This will be the team’s second season under head coach Deion Sanders. We’ll have to see how they perform.
