Major League Baseball found itself in a pretty horrible situation this preseason as their new uniforms led to a lot of criticism and backlash from players, fans, and media. And it sounds like some changes are going to be made to remedy the situation.
According to a memo obtained by MLB insider Jeff Passan of ESPN, Major League Baseball has plans to remedy the situation by no later than the start of the 2025 baseball season.
“The prominent modifications include a return to larger lettering on the back of jerseys, remedying mismatched gray tops and bottoms and addressing the new Nike jerseys’ propensity to collect sweat, according to the memo distributed to players by the MLB Players Association on Sunday,” Passan wrote for ESPN on Sunday.
“The changes, which will happen at the latest by the beginning of the 2025 season, will also include fixes to the pants, widely panned this spring for being see-through.”
It’s not clear what the exact timeline is for the specific changes or how soon the situation will be fully remedied, but it does seem like all sides are committed to fixing what has been a pretty horrible and embarrassing situation for everyone throughout the past few months.
