Dax Hill struggled at safety last season for the Cincinnati Bengals after he was thrust into the starting lineup, prompting the Bengals to sign safety Geno Stone this offseason presumably to replace him in the lineup. But it sounds like the team still wants Hill to have a role in the defense, but it will be changing.

This week, Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor announced that Dax Hill will be changing from safety to cornerback this offseason.

“We’ve seen it from him, and we think it’s the best opportunity right now to help our team,” Taylor said, via Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

This will not be the first time that Hill has played cornerback as he played the position extensively in college with the Michigan Wolverines.

“One of the reasons you took him was because of all the various things you’d seen on tape from him,” Taylor said. “He’s a superb athlete; he’s got great size; and he did a good amount of coverage at Michigan, playing inside covering slots, played some outside. The versatility is what made him the pick that he was. We’re really excited for his future. He has done a tremendous job embracing this opportunity, and I’m excited to see him go out there and compete.”

Obviously, this is a significant change, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.

We’ll have to see how Hill performs.
