The New England Patriots have made it clear that they would be willing to trade the No. 3 overall pick if they got a strong enough offer, but it doesn’t sound like the team has received an offer anywhere close to what they would consider for the pick.
According to a report from Mark Daniels of Mass Live, the Patriots have not received a “serious offer” for the No. 3 overall pick and the only offers they’ve received so far have been “laughable.”
“According to one source, the Patriots have fielded calls and trade offers for their first-round pick. However, the source indicated that those offers were ‘laughable’ and not close to getting the Patriots to move down. As of now, the team is still waiting for a ‘serious’ offer,”
“A second source stated that he wasn’t sure that such an offer exists or that another team would be willing to put together an unprecedented package to move the Patriots off the No. 3 pick.”
If this is true and the Patriots do not attract more interest, it seems likely that the team will simply use the pick to select a quarterback on Thursday night without trading down.
We’ll have to see how it plays out.
