After parting ways with the New England Patriots earlier this year, Bill Belichick did land another head coaching job in the NFL this offseason, but it does sound like he will at least be around the game in some capacity – in the media.
According to a report from Don Van Natta Jr., Seth Wickersham and Jeremy Fowler of ESPN on Wednesday, Bill Belichick is expected to analysis for ESPN’s “ManningCast” on Monday Night Football.
“In the coming weeks, Belichick is expected to sign a deal to do analysis for Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, which produces ESPN’s ‘ManningCast’ during ‘Monday Night Football,'” ESPN reported on Wednesday.
This certainly isn’t surprising as many expected Belichick to be involved in the media in some capacity after he was unable to land another head coaching job this hiring cycle. Now, it’s just a question of whether he will stay in the media for multiple seasons or try to go back to the NFL next season.
The ESPN report seems to indicate the latter.
“He is believed to be biding his time until next January for openings on teams he has told confidants he would be interested in coaching: the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants,” ESPN reported.
We’ll have to see what happens, but for now, Belichick will be in the media.
