For the past two decades, LeBron James has been the face of the NBA and has established himself as one of the most dominant and accomplished players in the history of the game. But after 21 seasons, James is nearing retirement age – and he knows it.
During an interview session on Sunday night, LeBron James was asked how long he thinks he will continue to play in the NBA, and he admitted a pretty brutal truth that he does not think he has much time left.
“Not very long. Not very long,” James said during the interview.

“I’m on the other side obviously of the hill. I’m not going to play another 21 years, that’s for [darn] sure. Not very long. I don’t know when that door will close as far as when I retire. But I don’t have much time left,” James said.
James did not elaborate further than that, so it’s not clear whether or not he has a specific timeline in mind. However, James has expressed a desire to play alongside his son Bronny James in the NBA. Bronny is currently in his first season with the USC Trojans in college. While he could decide to leave for the NBA after this season, most expect him to remain in college for at least another season.
We’ll have to see how that impacts James’ decision.
