Alabama Crimson Tide Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

For the first time in nearly two decades, the Alabama Crimson Tide will not be coached by the legendary Nick Saban, entering a new era with Kalen DeBoer at the helm. But that doesn’t mean that all that much will change under DeBoer, especially when it comes to the team’s quarterback situation.

Redshirt sophomore quarterback Jalen Milroe started the majority of the season for the Crimson Tide, finding his stride down the stretch of the season.

They would of course lose in the CFP Semifinals to the eventual National Champions in Michigan. But with a new coaching regime in Tuscaloosa, it was unclear whether DeBoer would look elsewhere at the quarterback position for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

DeBoer spoke about the team’s quarterback earlier this week in a guest appearance on Tide 100.9’s “The Game with Ryan Fowler”, revealing that Milroe has been taking “all the snaps with the Ones” during spring camp.

“Jalen’s taken every snap with the ones all spring,” DeBoer said. “He’s just a proven guy who’s done a great job last year. Leading a football team to a semifinal game is not easy. A conference championship, an SEC one at that, he’s just done some great things.

“Jalen’s got multiple pieces to his game that he can just really excel at,” DeBoer said. “We have some great ones in the room. Jalen’s certainly been headlining that room and doing a great job there, really taking in the offense, leading. He’s done a great job in all facets and things you’d want a quarterback to do.”

That’s obviously exactly what you want to hear as an Alabama fan about your quarterback. And while there are still questions about how this team will perform under DeBoer next year, it seems like they have a solidified starter at the quarterback position in Milroe.
