For a long time, Tiger Woods was one of the strongest critics of Saudi-backed LIV Golf as he bashed the league publicly on a number of occasions and staunchly refused to join the league, even as many of his friends and opponents took massive cash payments to leave the PGA Tour for LIV. But in a shocking twist, it sounds like he’s now helping engineer an alliance between LIV and the PGA Tour.
This week, Tiger Woods was part of a meeting between the PGA Tour and Yasir Al-Rumayyan, who governs Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund that funds LIV Golf.
According to a report from golf insider and reporter Dan Rapaport, Tiger Woods even played golf with al-Rumayyan while discussing the deal.
Hearing that Tiger Woods and Yasir al-Rumayyan will play golf/have already played to discuss the future of pro golf in the Bahamas.
Love that the biggest meetings to discuss the future of golf take place…on the golf course.

“Hearing that Tiger Woods and Yasir al-Rumayyan will play golf/have already played to discuss the future of pro golf in the Bahamas. Love that the biggest meetings to discuss the future of golf take place…on the golf course,” Rapaport said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
This is certainly a pretty shocking change from Woods given his stance against LIV Golf just a few months ago. We’ll have to see if the meeting was productive.
