Last season, Joe Flacco served as a bit of a savior for the Cleveland Browns when he signed with the team following the season-ending injury to starting quarterback Deshaun Watson and led the team to the playoffs. But next season, it sounds like he’ll be playing elsewhere.
According to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, Joe Flacco has decided to sign with the Indianapolis Colts.
“Former Browns QB and NFL Comeback Player of the Year winner Joe Flacco reached agreement with the Indianapolis Colts, per sources. It’s a one-year deal worth up to $8.7 million, including $4.5 million guaranteed. Flacco to Indy,” Schefter said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

The Colts do have a starting quarterback after selecting Anthony Richardson with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but he missed the bulk of the season after suffering a shoulder injury – the second injury he suffered in just a few games as a starter.
Given that Richardson is a dual-threat quarterback who does like to run and sometimes takes hits, having a veteran backup quarterback like Flacco is certainly not a bad option for the Colts heading into next season.
