The Cincinnati Bengals used their franchise tag to keep superstar wide receiver Tee Higgins with the team for the 2024 NFL season, but it doesn’t sound like that’s going to happen, after all.
According to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, Tee Higgins is not happy with the fact that the team has not had serious talks about a contract extension in over a year and wants to be traded from the team as a result.
“Bengals franchise WR Tee Higgins has requested a trade, per sources. Higgins loves Cincinnati and hoped to be with the team long term, but is disappointed that the team has not had any talks about a long-term contract extension since March 2023. He’s ready to move on to a new home,” Schefter wrote in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Higgins has been with the Bengals has entire career, joining the team as a No. 33 overall pick second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft – the same draft where the Bengals selected star quarterback Joe Burrow with the No. 1 overall pick.
We’ll have to see whether or not the Bengals honor this trade demand from Higgins.
