After a lackluster season from starting quarterback Kenny Pickett and comments from head coach Mike Tomlin indicated that there would be a competition for the starting quarterback role, many expected the Steelers to add a new quarterback this offseason. But it sounds like that might not be true after all.

According to a report from Mike DeFabo of The Athletic, the Steelers are not pursuing Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, Kirk Cousins, or Baker Mayfield this offseason.

“The Steelers are not interested in signing Wilson in the likely event he’s released by the Denver Broncos, a source familiar with the coaching staff’s feelings on the quarterback at this stage of his career told The Athletic,” Mike DeFabo wrote for The Athletic on Monday.

“Additionally, Pittsburgh is not among the teams actively working to trade for Fields, league sources told The Athletic’s Dianna Russini. Pittsburgh is also not pursuing Kirk Cousins or Baker Mayfield in free agency, according to league sources.”

Obviously, this is some pretty shocking news given that the team was widely expected to add a new quarterback this offseason, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.

If this remains true, it looks like Pickett could remain the starter in Pittsburgh, after all.
