Longtime college basketball coach Rick Pitino is one of the most accomplished coaches in the game right now with two different national championships under his belt. But it’s safe to say that this season has not gone exactly the way he would have hoped during his first year with St. John’s.
On Sunday, St. John’s suffered a loss to Seton Hall to bring their season record to just 14-12 on the season – a long shot to make the NCAA Tournament at this point.
After the game, Rick Pitino did not hold back as he absolutely blasted his own team, calling them “so unathletic” and saying that this season has been “the most unenjoyable experience of my lifetime.”
Pitino: “We are so unathletic that we can’t guard anybody without fouling. For me, I’ve always enjoyed the first year, and I’m not gonna lie to you: This is the most unenjoyable experience of my lifetime. This has been so disappointing.” #sjubb

“We are so unathletic that we can’t guard anybody without fouling. For me, I’ve always enjoyed the first year, and I’m not gonna lie to you: This is the most unenjoyable experience of my lifetime. This has been so disappointing,” Pitino said according to independent college basketball reporter and writer Jaden Daly.
St. John’s has now lost five of their last six games as they continue to slip in the Big East standings. We’ll have to see if they can bounce back late in the season.
