Even though Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik got lots of interest from around the league with teams needing new head coaches this offseason, he’ll be back with the team for at least one more season. And it sounds like rookie star quarterback C.J. Stroud is quite happy about that.
C.J. Stroud had arguably the strongest rookie season of any quarterback in NFL history playing under Bobby Slowik, and he made it pretty clear that he’s excited to be playing under him for at least one more season, calling it “a real good thing” that Slowik is coming back.
“Yeah, I’m excited. It’s another year with a good coach,” Stroud said according to NFL Media. “We’ve got a lot of good chemistry. It’s a real good thing.”
Stroud surprised many with his strong rookie season in which he became just the fifth rookie in league history ever to throw more than 4,000 yards. But he certainly didn’t surprise himself.
“I have confidence in myself. I wasn’t surprised much,” Stroud said.
We’ll have to see how Stroud follows up this strong success during his second season in the league, especially since he will be returning all of his coaches from this season.
