The Ohio State Buckeyes made perhaps the most high-profile transfer portal addition this offseason when the team signed former Alabama Crimson Tide star safety Caleb Downs, who left the program following the retirement of head coach Nick Saban. And as he joins the Buckeyes, it sounds like Downs has some pretty high expectations for him and his team.
Ohio State already had one of the best and most dominant defenses in the country last season. With the addition of Downs, the team figures to be even more dominant on that side of the ball. When asked his expectations for how he thinks the Buckeye defense will perform next season, Downs didn’t mince words.
“I expect us to be one of the best,” Downs said according to Eleven Warriors. “I expect us to excel and be better than they were last year. I expect us to be elite.”
As for his goals for the team as a whole, next season, Downs didn’t hold back in that regard either.
“To win games and dominate every game and go win a championship,” Downs said.
We’ll have to see whether or not Ohio State turns out to be as dominant as Downs seems to expect them to be.
