Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff will meet his former team this weekend when he leads the Lions against the Los Angeles Rams in their matchup in the Wild Card round of the playoffs this weekend. And it’s pretty clear that Goff wants to send a message to them with his performance.

This week, Jared Goff had a pretty brutal message for the Los Angeles Rams, admitting that he will always feel a bit of a chip on his shoulder and a little animosity toward the team after they decided to trade him ahead of the 2021 season as part of a package that included current quarterback Matthew Stafford.

“Of course,” Goff said according to Eric Woodyard of ESPN. “I think it’ll never leave me, and I think that’s a good thing.”

But Goff also made it clear that any personal vendetta he has with the Rams is secondary to the team’s goals.

“I so badly want to win a playoff game for this city that hasn’t had one in so long,” Goff said. “We’ve got a home playoff game for the first time in so long and that’s so much more important than anything personally for me. I want to be a part of this win and do my job the best of my ability.”

Goff would clearly like to get a win over the Rams this weekend, for more reasons than one.
