A New York man faces criminal charges for lying about his identity, after hilariously pretending to be Boston Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs.
The Hour reports Jeffrey Jacobs, 37, tried to trick a tree service company by lying about being Jeremy Jacobs, 78, after a tree fell on his New York house following a storm. According to police, the company’s owner was a huge Boston Bruins fan and came to Jacobs house in the middle of a storm and left the $5,100 bill to the actual Jacobs.
It’s not the first time Jacobs tried this stunt. He was pulled over in November by police and lied about being the billionaire to get out a traffic ticket.
It’s bizarre the trickery seemed to work, as the two Jacobs have a 40 years age gap between them, but the fake Jacobs’ actions will have serious consequences. Police charged him with a criminal impersonation. He’s since been released on a $5,000 bond.
The lesson here is don’t pretend to be someone you’re not. Especially, when committing a crime. Hopefully, Jacobs learned that lesson.
