Rodney Hood reportedly refused to enter Game 4 in garbage time

The Cleveland Cavaliers rolled over the Toronto Raptors on Monday with a 128-93 Game 4 victory to sweep their Eastern Conference rivals. While you might think it’s all harmonious in Cleveland, Cavs guard Rodney Hood might have ruffled some feathers with his teammates after reportedly refusing to enter the game during garbage time.

According to Jason Lloyd of The Athletic, Hood drew ire from Cavs teammates after he refused to play in garbage time on Monday.

“A number of veterans huddled around him during the timeout and tried talking sense into him, but Hood still refused to go, so Jose Calderon subbed into the game instead. Hood dressed quickly and was one of the first players out of the locker room after the game.”

The 25-year-old, acquired in Utah in the Cavaliers roster overhaul, had a dismal postseason, averaging just 4.6 points per game, averaging 17 minutes per game over 10 appearances. For a guy who’s supposed to stretch the floor, Hood is shooting just 13 percent from three-point range and 39 percent overall.

In the playoffs, nobody should pass up getting into the game when there name is called upon – especially, someone who’s struggling as badly as Hood. He needs to realize he’s not bigger than the team. It’s a shame because for once, almost everything is going right for the Cavs this year.
