In an odd bit of scheduling, the US Women’s National team was playing a friendly against Denmark in San Diego as the NFC Championship started all the way across the country. Julie Ertz is a star for the USWNT, and her husband, Zach Ertz, is a star for the Philadelphia Eagles. As Ertz was tied up with a few obligations during the NFC Title game, she couldn’t watch her husband dominate the hapless Vikings. But she did have this great moment when she found out her husband is playing in the Super Bowl.

That is terrific. It’s what sports are all about in the modern age. And in the postgame locker room in Philadelphia, when Zach was shown the video of Julie breaking down, he broke down.

Julie Scored in the 19th minute to put the US up 2-1, and the US ended up winning the game 5-1. Ertz had the moment of her career in Canada when the US women won the World Cup, and she has the chance now to see her husband succeed at the highest level two weeks from now in the Super Bowl.
Sports are fantastic, by the way.
