Not many people care about the Europa League, even a Spurs supporter like myself who used to only be able to get up for Europa League games because this is all the club had. Certainly, there isn’t much to celebrate about for Arsenal supporters watching their team play away to BATE Borisov in Belarus on an early Thursday evening. But it did provide a great goalkeeping gaffe befitting the Europa League’s irrelevance tonight…

Is that the worst pass out of the back ever done by any goalkeeper in the history of soccer? Denis Scherbitskiy hit it right to Theo Walcott. Maybe he’s secretly an Arsenal fan. Scherbitskiy is a 21-year-old reserve keeper for BATE who has a few caps to Belarus’ U-21 team to his name, but now he’ll be more famous around the world for potentially the worst pass out of the back in the recent history of the sport.
Although if Scherbitskiy needed to feel better about himself, another minnow from a small European league pulled off a similar gaffe against Everton later in the day:

The Europa League should be banned.
