On Wednesday, the Denver Nuggets unveiled their new court design for the coming season. And while some of the changes are a bit of a wash (such as the team’s decision to swap out its great crossing-pickaxes logo for the old mountain logo at center court), having the pickaxes spread across the inside of the three-point lines (while including moutains along the baseline) definitely adds a visual punch that the previous court lacked. The only slight bummer is that the new design almost gets rid of the Nuggets’ signature powder blue, which is a superior color to the dark blue that runs the baseline in every way.
The numbers “5280/300” are also a part of the court’s design.
Below the mountain range, the numbers 5280 and 300 are another fresh addition, symbolizing Denver’s altitude of 5,280 feet and the front range’s historical average of 300 days of sunshine per year.
As a reference, here’s what last year’s court design looked like. I’d say that it’s definitely an improvement but for the love of all that is basketball, there needs to be some more powder blue to make this perfect.
