How many NBA players can you name that were drafted in the second round? Not many right? Many don’t even end up collecting an NBA paycheck and some get stashed overseas on another team’s dime. Houston Rockets’ second round pick, Montrezl Harrell, won’t be one of those players.
Watch him put a Sixer on a poster in his fourth summer league game.
It’s surprising that Harrell fell to the Rockets with the 32nd pick. A 6-foot-8 power forward with obvious athleticism, he should be a great addition to their loaded frontcourt. He doesn’t shoot the ball great from the perimeter, but it seems like he’s a good rebounder for his size and a capable finisher. The power forward position is shifting toward versatility, and Harrell looks like he could fit that model with some development.
