Hurling is not a well-known sport in some parts of the world, especially in the United States, but whenever a vicious brawl breaks out, people usually start paying attention. The sport that slightly resembles a mix of lacrosse and field hockey is fast-paced and can be brutally barbarous if things get out of hand. And that’s exactly what happened between Mount Sion and Dungarvan.
The two Irish clubs quickly found themselves engage in a bloody battle after tensions rose during a recent match, leading to players using their sticks, or hurlies, as weapons:
