Kobe Bryant is a winner, and all he wants to do is win. Anybody who has a problem with Kobe, doesn’t want to win. That’s the nonsense the Lakers organization headed by Jeanie Buss and Mitch Kupchak have been saying to make themselves feel better about free agents spurning them in free agency.
Bryant was blamed when NBA All-Star Dwight Howard turned his back on LA for Houston and reports surfaced shortly thereafter about how no one wanted to play with Bryant, citing his ball-dominance and bad attitude.
The Bucks’ Jared Dudley was the most recent NBA player to express this sentiment on Bryant.
“Most guys don’t want to play with Kobe,” Dudley told ESPN’s Colin Cowherd. “He gets in this thing where he doesn’t pass and then overpasses and then tries to get triple doubles every night … that’s why I think it will be a while for the Lakers to get good because they’ve got no stars.”
As a lifelong Bryant fan, I didn’t believe in this until last season when it seemed like all he wanted to do was break Michael Jordan’s scoring record. Bryant’s style of play just doesn’t make sense in today’s NBA and most players realize that.
If I were Dudley though, Bryant is the last player I’d try to start beef with. He’ll still be around for one more season, and who knows what he could do to the Bucks in that time.
