The Masters’ par three contest will take place at Augusta today and it appears that Rory McIlroy might be the only golfer participating whose caddie is more famous than he is.
Carrying McIlroy’s bags will be Niall Horan from One Direction. Yes, that One Direction.
“He’s been excited to come here,” McIlroy said with a smile. “He’s never been to the Masters. I caught up with him in Australia at the end of last year and he was really excited, and I said, ‘If you’re available Wednesday afternoon and you want to carry the bag for nine holes, you’re more than welcome.'”
That’s a pretty formidable duo teaming up considering McIlroy is the top golfer on the planet and Horan is one of music’s biggest stars. If there are preteen girls who watch the Masters par three contest, I think I know who they’ll be pulling for this year.
