On Tuesday, Kevin Durant had a successful bone graft surgery on his right foot.
The Thunder issued a statement confirming that Durant would miss the rest of the season as a result of the procedure:
Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant underwent successful bone graft surgery today for the fifth metatarsal of his right foot, Thunder Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti announced.
The procedure was performed by Dr. Martin O’Malley with Thunder medical personnel present at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Durant will miss the remainder of the 2014-15 season and is expected to return to full basketball activities in the next four to six months.
The Thunder forward issued a statement on his own on Instagram that was decidedly more passionate.
The reigning MVP of the NBA averaged 25.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists in a mere 27 games this season. Hopefully, his recovery goes according to plan because the NBA isn’t the same without one of its best talents on the basketball floor.
